Six children picked up hammers and pounded holes in a sheetrock wall on Tuesday on the lawn outside Lincoln Elementary School.
The kids, wearing helmets and goggles, enjoyed it so much that Principal Shawn Galvin had tell them twice that it was time to stop.
The wall bashing was part of a ceremony to mark the start of referendum-funded projects at most of the Janesville public schools, which will continue for about 15 months.
Much fun was had by all, as adults also took their turns at the two 4-by-8-foot walls that JP Cullen & Sons, the construction manager, had built for the occasion.

The Rock County Health Department has lifted the countyâs COVID-19 mask orders, giving its blessing for people to go without face-covering mask in many public spaces.
In a notice released Friday, the health department said Health Officer Katrina Harwood announced the countyâs order is lifted effective at noon Friday. The word comes a day after the CDC released new guidance that people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can safely resume regular activities without a mask.
In a statement Friday, Harwood said the county is lifting its own orders. She said if itâs been at least two weeks since a person has gotten the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or if itâs been two weeks since they received the single dose Johnson & Johnson jab, studies show itâs safe to stop wearing a mask in many situations.
Local school districts will receive tens of millions of dollars to help them with efforts to get students back on track after the year of the pandemic.
Janesville is projected to receive more than $27 million in federal aid, according to a state Legislative Fiscal Bureau analysis.
The money is allocated based on federals estimates of family income, so while Janesville gets more than $2,915 per student, Milton gets $892 per student.
The figures are not final. Milton schools Superintendent Rich Dahman noted some aid will depend on how long students learned in classrooms in the past year, a requirement imposed by the state Legislature, and those figures have not yet been finalized.
