The officer, Salvatore Provenzano, was cleared of third-degree assault on Thursday, according to his police union.

NYPD officer Salvatore Provenzano was cleared after being accused of punching a man in the face while trying to escort him out of an Apple Store on the Upper West Side over a year and a half ago.

The incentive, which was buried in one of Albany's recently signed budget bills, will increase elite NYPD cops' retirement salaries if they delay putting in their papers, leading to an added pension payout of up to $12,000 annually.
