A fundraiser to help a mountain rescue worker who suffered life-changing injuries while out on a mission has received a massive surge of responses from the public. The volunteer lifesaver injured on a rescue mission above Kirkstone Pass has now been named as Chris Lewis. Patterdale Mountain Rescue lifesaver Chris, 60, fell 150 metres from Red Screes above Kirkstone Pass on February 6. Chris and colleagues were aiding one of two wild campers who had fallen ill. The Cumbrian mountain rescue volunteer suffered severe spinal injuries and it is feared he will never walk again. While the team was making its way to the casualty the experienced team member fell 150 metres down a steep slope.
