The family of a 15-year-old transgender boy whose health plan refused to cover gender-affirming care will be allowed to make their case in court, a judge has ruled.
On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Robert J. Bryant denied an effort by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to dismiss a lawsuit challenging the company’s decision to deny gender-affirming care in an employer-provided health insurance plan provided by Catholic Health Initiatives.
