NHS staff from across the county are urging Cumbrians to keep going in the fight against coronavirus. Staff from North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC), NHS North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group are the newest faces of the “Keep Going” campaign, which urges people to keep following Covid restrictions, and keep infection rates going down. Paul Carruthers, clinical lead for patient flow at NCIC, said: “The public’s support has meant so much through all this. We’re nearly there and we just need people to keep going and follow the guidance for a while longer.
Distington man held knife to stepsonâs throat
A man who held a knife to his stepsonâs throat at the familyâs West Cumbria home has been jailed for almost a year.
Carlisle Crown Court heard Paul Carruthersâs violent behaviour, on 13th August last year, was linked to a deterioration of his mental health and came after the breakdown of his 16-year marriage.
Carruthers, 56, moved out but returned to his wifeâs Distington address while she was out. Her adult son woke to find Carruthers standing over him in a ârageâ.
Having made an untidy search, Carruthers was given some personal documents which had been upstairs in the property but then produced a knife which he held to his stepsonâs throat.
