MIDDLETOWN Quick response by Columbus House staff and its partners allowed those sheltering at a local motel to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
After learning the Community Health Center had extra doses due to expire last week, Columbus House, which serves people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, was notified there were 150 doses of the vaccine that would expire at the end of the day, according to John B. Brooks, chief development officer of the New Haven-based agency.

Sara Estela, the youngest daughter of the late Juan Estela, who died Monday, was married to her husband Michael Krystek at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown Saturday by her father’s bedside in the ICU. Her family knew he had only days, or even hours, to live. MIDDLETOWN Employees of NRG’s Middletown Generating Station and Devon Generating Station in Milford have long been active members of their communities, according to the company.
As part of a nearly $9,000 donation, the Middletown and Devon stations chose two local organizations to support: St. Vincent de Paul Place of Middletown and Boys & Girls Village of Milford, both of which are helping to care for/feed the vulnerable this holiday season, according to a press release.
