By B.A.S.S. Communications Staff Wes Logan said memories came flooding back to him throughout the Neely Henry Lake Bassmaster Elite Series event. Thats bound to happen when youve fished a place since you were 5 years old.
Logan now has countless new reasons to think fondly of his home water after claiming the tournament title. The 26-year-old from Springville, Ala., only a 30-mile drive from the Gadsden City Boat Docks, caught a four-day total of 20 bass weighing 57-09. He capped the competition with a 14-01 limit on day 4, the third-heaviest of the day.

Before the tournament began, Wes Loganpredicted it would take 55 pounds to win.
He was wrong. It took 57 pounds.
The Springville native landed 57 lbs. 9 oz. to land the blue trophy Monday at the 2021 Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Neely Henry Lake. He beat Paul Mueller, who was 1 lb. 6 oz. back in second place.
“I give it all I had,” Logan said at Monday’s weigh-in. “I’ve led some tournaments going to the last day but never been able to close it out. To do it here on this body of water as many hours I’ve spent here, it just makes this that more special, and to do it in front of all of these people it’s even more special. The good Lord blessed me.”

Wes Logan t 16-15 stringer on day 3 tied for the heaviest bag thus far at the Neely Henry Lake Bassmaster Elite Series.
By B.A.S.S. Communications Staff Wes Logan grew up fishing this 11,200-acre Coosa River fishery, so its no surprise his intimate knowledge of the lake helped him climb to the top of the leaderboard on day 3 of the Neely Henry Lake Bassmaster Elite Series.
But with the Neely Henry bass still adjusting to extremely heavy rains last week, Logan admits hell have to lean on every bit of his experience if hes to win his first B.A.S.S tournament Monday.

Despite a light bag on day 3, Jason Christie remained atop the leaderboard at the Sabine River Bassmaster Elite Series.
By B.A.S.S. Communications Staff Jason Christie had more gas than he needed and more water than he wanted, but the Oklahoma anglers three-day total of 35-11 allowed him to maintain his lead on day 3 of the Sabine River Bassmaster Elite Series in Orange, Texas.
Christie was 2nd on day 1 with 15-01 and took over the top spot Friday by adding 13-14. On Saturday, the Sabine was in a stingier mood and Christie found only a small limit of 6-12. He holds a 15-ounce lead over day-1 leader Brock Mosley.
