From the 39. 6 to 37 . Now, one of the biggest questions, especially for californians, is the fate of the state and local Tax Deductions. Those allowed you to deduct what you pay in state and local taxes from your federal tax bill. Save ace lot of people money, but both bills eliminate those deductions but allow property Tax Deductions of up to 10,000 a year. Right now we dont know how that all was ironed out. California republicans largely backed the bill in the house but they came under pressure during the conference negotiations to push for an expansion of the state and local deduction in order to avoid tax increases. And the announcement on tax reform came just hours after Democratic Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer called the republicans to hit pause on their tax bill until newly elected Democrat Doug Jones takes his seat. Nbc news projects jones won the special election in alabama. He holds about a 1. 5 lead or 20,000 votes over republican roy moore. Moore has refused to conc
Feel the jolt and the back and forth shaking motion. And the number one reason reason is of course that it was shallow. But the second thing we look at is the shallow nature allows the primary and secondary energy waves to travel farther reaching more of the bay area. And thats why so many of us had the perceived notion that it was higher than 4. 4 magnitude. Lets look at the primary and secondary waves. Primary waves usually arrives first hence the name. The sentencing hearing, which is still taking place on the second floor of the hall of justice behind me here in San Francisco was just in recess. It is back in session. It is expected that the judge will sentence Jose Ines Garcia zarate to the maximum three years in prison after being convicted of a firearm possession in the death of kate steinle. Again, that sentencing has not taken place yet, this is what legal experts are expecting. Hes likely fulfilled that sentence given time served. Zarate was acquitted in the 2015 shooting death of steinle at San Franciscos pier 14. This is after the jury decided he was not guilty of murder and manslaughter charges. This morning, his defense team will argue for a retrial on that possession conviction. His lawyers claim the jury was not informed about transitory possession, thats the idea that Garcia Zarate held the weapon briefly but not long enough to call it possession. The prosecution filed a motion this week arguing that that claim is bogus
