A hands-on approach is helping parents get sober and regain custody of their infants and toddlers, according to officials in northern St. Louis County.
The program is starting small, designating two beds at Northwood's diagnostic assessment center to help stabilize St. Louis County children with acute needs and behaviors.
St. Louis County’s proposed 2022 budget is $43 million larger than this year’s, amounting to $463 million. The increase is projected to cause a 1.9 percent bump in property taxes.

After an untold number of students fell off track during the pandemic, St. Louis County will spend big on reconnecting children with their schools.
Acting to stem a truancy problem created during a year of mostly remote learning, commissioners moved forward Tuesday during their meeting in Proctor with a plan to spend 10% of the county’s $54 million in federal pandemic recovery funding to install mentors in schools.
