Pensioners alert! Govt extends payment of provisional pension up to 1 year period

Decision in view of the pandemic situation. New Delhi: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Government has decided to extend the payment of provisional pension up to a period of one year from the date of retirement in view of the pandemic situation. At a meeting held online with senior officers of the Department of Pension and DARPG, the Minister said that provisional family pension was also liberalized. He said that instructions were issued that family pension may be sanctioned immediately on receipt of a claim for family pension and death certificate from the eligible family member, without waiting for forwarding of the family pension case to Pay & Accounts Office.

A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting chaired by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh, officers of the Department of Pension and DARPG. The Minister said that provisional family pension was also liberalised.

Aiyappa, by Pay Accounts Office (PAO) of Central Tax & GST  Bengaluru, has been forwarded to the Secretary, Department of Revenue, Government of India.  The President’s Secretariat, Rashtrapathi Bhavan, New Delhi, has acknowledged the receipt of VeKare Trust’s letter dated Feb. 2, 2021, addressed to the President, who is also the Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Forces, seeking appropriate attention to the petition.
