Shares of Peloton Interactive Inc. fell more than 8% in Thursday afternoon trading

The bikes were sold in the U.S. from January 2018 through May 2023 for about $1,400.

Peloton is recalling more than 2 million of its exercise bikes because the bike’s seat post assembly can break during use, posing fall and injury hazards.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled exercise bikes and to contact Peloton for a free repair. Peloton is offering a free seat post that can be self-installed.

Wall Street is slipping Thursday, weighed down by a sharp drop for The Walt Disney Co. and flaring fears about the health of some U.S. banks.

The company is recalling the bikes because of fall and injury hazards.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday that the seat post assembly can break during use, which may cause users to fall off and hurt themselves.
