BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) China s forest resources have steadily increased over the years, with the country s woodland and tree assets hitting 25.05 trillion yuan (about 3.86 trillion U.S. dollars) by 2018, the latest research shows.
This represents a rise of 17.66 percent compared with the value revealed in 2014, according to data jointly released by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (NFGA) and the National Bureau of Statistics.
Such an improvement will contribute greatly to China s carbon neutrality goal, said Peng Youdong, vice chief of the NFGA.
China previously announced that it will strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

Nation planted 6.77 million hectares of trees last year, green report says
China planted 6.77 million hectares of forest last year and brought more than 2 million hectares of sandy land under control through improving vegetation, said a report unveiled on Friday, the country s 43rd Tree Planting Day.
The National Greening Commission released the report, which showed that 827,000 hectares of farmland and more than 1.68 million hectares of pastures had been turned into forest or grassland over the past year.
