Charles Edward Hopper Jr., 49, of Girard, Ohio, a town about 10 miles from the Pennsylvania border, was killed after his 2015 yellow Frightliner truck with a combination of two semi-trailers went off the overpass. The cab and one of the two trailers fell about 40 feet onto the ground along Newportville Road near the bank of the Neshaminy Creek in Bristol Township around 1:26 a.m., state police said.
Troopers said the truck failed to stay in its lane and drifted into the guide rail leading up to the overpass before the crash. The truck drove against the barrier and an abutment, damaging the bridge. The truck ended up going over the concrete barrier before falling off the overpass. The one semi-trailer went off the overpass with the cab and one stayed on the overpass.
