While spring brings welcomed sunshine and warmer temperatures to Pennsylvania, it also brings the threat of floods due to snow melt, heavy rains, and the start of hurricane season. What better time to hold the annual Pennsylvania Association of Floodplain Managers (PAFPM) conference?
Earlier this month, more than 100 floodplain managers, planners, and design professionals congregated virtually to share knowledge and discuss policies that better prepare our communities for floods, the costliest and most prevalent natural disaster in the state. Speakers included representatives from the Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, National Weather Service, PA-DEP, and The Pew Charitable Trusts.
