The University of Rhode Island is reaffirming its commitment to high-performance research computing with a major investment in the Massachusetts Green High-Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC). URI became the first academic institution outside of the state of Massachusetts to join the center in November 2021. The center is a collaboration of the five major research universities in Massachusetts – Boston University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, and the University of Massachusetts. Built in 2012, it hosts the research computing infrastructure of its members at its dedicated center in Holyoke, Mass. .
