And in its concert-hall debut, featuring a night of Tchaikovsky by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from London, it delivered.
On the front lawn of downtown's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, staff members cheered, dignitaries danced on the podium and the bubbly flowed as the long-awaited dream of a world-class concert hall finally became reality.
Friday is the culmination of nearly two decades of work as the long promised, often delayed and highly anticipated Steinmetz Hall opens its doors to the public. Its debut completes the original vision of the $612 million downtown Orlando arts center. But beyond the artistry it will house, what does the hall mean to Central Florida?
