The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations Riyad Mansour appealed to the member states of the Security Council to be guided by the rules of international humanitarian law without exception and not to send a message that the lives of Palestinians do not matter.

The UN Security Council on Monday night in New York failed to adopt a resolution proposed by Russia that would have called for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, which has been ravaged by almost 10 days of fighting between Israel and Hamas militants.

Discussing recent and future efforts to promote arms trade transparency in the ATT context

France, the UK, and the US, as well as Japan, rejected a UN Security Council resolution that called for a humanitarian ceasefire for Gaza, as the besieged Palestinian enclave continues to suffer intensive Israeli bombing.

The Palestinian movement also said in the statement that "the countries which rejected the draft resolution to open humanitarian corridors are responsible for the ongoing bloodshed among civilians in the Gaza Strip"
