own narrative. the description of him sounds a little different than his public persona. what do you make of his role in this case? >> as i talk about extensively in my book, the key to grinding down trump is to actually be a work horse, not a show horse. the key is to stick to your facts, you evidence, your arguments and keep on working them. out don't necessarily need to be a show horse. i think they're doing a plenty good job getting their message out there in the media about what this indictment is about. i don't think we need to have some other person who is reality show ready, being there to go up against trump. i think what matters is the courtroom, and what matters is convincing those jurors. that's what brag and his team have to do. i don't think there's anything bad here at all about not being showy or being a show horse. out don't need to be a show horse to beat trump.

expected to last 6—8 weeks. the court has wrapped up for the i already even notice only lunch time here because one of the jurors has an emergency dental appointment so there is no more evidence today. on his way out donald trump stopped and talked to reporters as he so often does and once again he was claiming he was only prosecuted because he is running for president. this is a biden witchhunt to keep me off the campaign trail. so far it's not working, because my poll numbers are higher than they've ever been because the public understands that it's a witchhunt. now, it's possibly because of outbursts like that that donald trump's defence team reminded the jury trump's defence team reminded the jury they have been picked because they said they could be impartial and they were to listen to the evidence in court and put aside any perceptions they had of donald trump and his public persona. that is what the defence will be hoping they can

there is a stills photographer and they're capturing moments but no they* re ca pturingrmoments butane footage they*re capturingrmoments butane footage allowed, and we've video footage allowed, and we've just been told that the lawyer for donald trump there is finishing his opening statements with basically an appeal tojurors, asking them to listen to their evidence and use "common—sense" rather than be taken by prosecutors assertions. that's why we're here, he said before the break. they were picked to jurors because they were asked of put aside their views of trump's persona and "we trust you to do that." opening from the prosecution and defence, getting a much clearer picture now of what their arguments will be, the context will be effectively the framing for this trial in the days and weeks ahead. we will get plenty more reaction to what we've heard so far ahead of hearing from any actual

it is killing him to know that individuals hold this opinion of him and many of those individuals are fine making those opinions known. i think it is the backdrop of where he has acknowledging he is in the courtroom and he has no choice but to be there but he would rather play golf at mar-a-lago are actually campaigning. he is not making money off of this right now. in his previous iterations of being charged, he would showcase the mug shot and fun race off of the cups and t- shirts for all of the barbs he would make. in this case, he has not been able to shake people down the way he has briefly been able to do when he faced charges. there are two things at play, the tough guy persona he has is taken a toll. these opinions are really getting at the guy he was used to bring insults at other people. it is the backdrop of new york, the place where he builds as well, his name and his brand. his ego is taking ahead. >> dean, i have to ask you as a lawyer, the potential for donald trump to take the stand. he wants to do it.

and being the welsh national opera, it seemed too good an opportunity to pass up. i worked with the highly eminent conductor sir charles mackerras, who's world famous for his work in mozart. and after a minute of his singing, charles lent over to me and said "i don't think we're going to have any "problems with this," he said, and we knew. the rest is history, really. though, before bryn made it onto the stage for the wno, he was thrown out. just before he did his first professional engagement with us, singing in cosi fan tutte, he came in with a pal to watch some of his pal*s rehearsal. i didn't know who he was and all of our rehearsals are closed and nobody who isn't within the company at the time is allowed, so i politely asked him to leave. it's caused a few giggles subsequently, however. bryn has got such wonderful humanity and humility — i go back to that all the time. they're his calling cards, if you like, in his persona.

when she first came to the house, she was very moderate. she was a symbol of what a bipartisan republican and democratic partnership could look like. in the last three years, she has vastly transformed to someone who has been staunchly behind the former president and has led the effort to overturn the election results and question the integrity of the 2020 election. she has since muddied the waters when it comes to that question and she has angled perhaps to be trump's vp pick. it is clear what she is doing here and how she is positioning herself and i would like to know that she was the only one out of the others on the leadership team that didn't actually run to be speaker in the fall. that is clearly not where she has her eyes set. and certainly this is a tone she has taken on, this persona she has taken on. i will note that a majority of the other republicans if not all in the near delegation that she is part of, actually did support aid to ukraine. she is certainly an outlier there as well. >> thank you so much for

if you like, in his persona. # gemma e gemma la pompa del tuo...# it was the welsh national opera that launched bryn's career and catapulted him onto the world stage. it was here in cardiff that he first performed one of his most iconic roles — that of falstaff, the opera by verdi, based on the shakespearean comic character. you can see that he wore a fat suit underneath... oh, gosh. can i touch it? yeah. ..which is... oh, my. ..padded with wadding, and it's got netting to create all the sorts of leg and varying areas to build him up as a bigger man than he already is. but i mean, that looks terrifically hot, and you're under all those lights and singing. you had to pat his brow down and make sure all was well whilst we did the change. five minutes' worth of four people helping him as we go. like a pit stop, everybody did their task, and then got him all dressed up to get back onstage.

that is this trial moving at the pace you expected well honestly, i thought it would take longer to pick a jury and state court, but i admire the way he's handled it. he's moved it along quickly, which is probably the right thing to do in this particular case, the longer it takes a longer people are going to have second thoughts. it's good to get the jury is seated and sworn. i think he did get fairly in every way and i don't think it was overly fast. i think it was thorough, it carefully planned, a good questionnaire. the lawyers had time to ask their questions. so while it was faster than i expected, i don't think he was railroaded and i don't think it's too fast. >> as you know, judge, there's been a lot of scrutiny over juror number 11, who said she doesn't like trump's persona, that she thinks he seems quote, very selfish and self-serving direct quotes were you surprised the judge borussia didn't dismiss her? would you have done so in his shoes? i
