An excellent book i read in grad school many years ago. Most recently, he is the author of the thin light of freedom, the civil war and emancipation in the heart of america, published in 2017. And the 2018 lincoln prizewinner. One of the things he has done throughout his career, he has made a point to speak to public audiences.
