“Don’t worry about your bloody mortgage, there’s more to life than that.” It was a message 20-something sculptor Ron Robertson-Swann would never forget, inspiring a lifetime dedicated to making art.
Swann was taught by Anthony Caro and Phillip King at St Martin’s in London and Lyndon Dadswell in Sydney. “[Caro and Daswell] were returned soldiers and I think that you’re damaged but you grow up quickly and that gave them a certain respect for life and things worthwhile doing in life,” Robertson-Swann says.
