RIDGECREST, Calif – The city of Ridgecrest will hold the eighth annual festival celebrating the area’s historic Native American petroglyph rock art November 6-7, 2021. Just over an hour north
Ridgecrest Daily Independent
The Daily Independent newspaper will be leaving its landmark building on East Ridgecrest Boulevard and Gold Canyon Street after more than 30 years. The DI will be moving this spring but may not travel far. The top contender for the new location is in the same general neighborhood.
The move comes after the DI became a member of the USA Today Network when former parent company Gatehouse merged with Gannett in 2019, forming the largest newspaper chain in the country.
The move is intended to right-size the office space to fit the current staff.
In its many years the DI has gone from black and white to color and moved through many editors, many reporters and many formats but has always kept its commitment to reporting local news.
