The group of people accused of defrauding the University of Fort Hare out of millions of rand has failed in a bid to have the charges dismissed. The 15 accused on Wednesday brought their application in the Alice magistrate’s court, sitting in Dimbaza, asking that the matter be struck off the roll, citing jurisdiction.
There could be further arrests in the ongoing saga of violence and corruption at the University of Fort Hare, after an additional 15 people were taken into custody over the Easter weekend, bringing the total number of suspects to 25.
