Job losses: Shops and workforce not part of rescue deal for Debenhams © DC Thomson The Overgate Shopping Centre in Dundee. All Debenhams shops will close and workers will lose their jobs as part of a rescue deal. Online fashion retailer Boohoo has bought the Debenhams brand and website from administration for £55 million. TFG London CEO to step down TFG London chief executive Ben Barnett will leave the business in June 2021, after 14 years at the retail group. Barnett joined the Phase Eight board in 2007, and led the successful acquisitions of Whistles in March 2016 and Hobbs in November 2017. A FAMILIAR landmark in Skipton High Street in the not too distant past was Fred Manby’s household store at the top of Sheep Street. The clock mechanism appears to be missing in this picture so that may be a measure on the date it was taken. The store held anything to do with ironmongery and fireplaces which were made in nearby Manby’s yard. The Manby family is understood to have traded for 170 years. The shop closed in the late 1980s.
