Commercial and other activities in the communities were reportedly disrupted following three days of communal clash in which three persons were reportedly killed. x
The Guardian learned that communal clashes, which started on Sunday, were caused by a land dispute between two communities, just as Spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Bello Kontongs, said a team of Mobile Police Force was deployed to the area to join forces with other security agencies to restore peace.
BENIN CITY – THE newly posted Commissioner of Police to Edo state, Mr Philip Ogbadu yesterday read the riot act to criminals as he vowed to crush their activities and maintained that his target is to ensure kidnapped victims are rescued within four hours. Ogbadu stated this when he visited the Edo State Council Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) where he was received by the leadership of the union led by its Chairman, Sir Rolland Osakue. He said “In the past five days, you cannot kidnap anybody in this state and keep him or her for four hours, if you keep the person for more than that, we will catch you and that is what we are working towards, you cannot just come and pick somebody as if he is a fowl and if we catch you woe betide you and that is what we are aiming at.

The Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Philip Ogbadu, on Tuesday said that his target in the state is to ensure that kidnapped victims are rescued within four hours while also reading riot act to criminals, asking them to leave the state.
Ogbadu, who made the disclosure during a visit to the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), however, assured that the command was on top of the security situations in the state and warned criminals to relocate from the state.
He, however, alleged that thouse criminals attacking people of the state are not indigenes of the state, claiming that some of them are from Kogi, Ondo, Delta and some other states.
