CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico -- Hurricane Norma made landfall near the resorts of Los Cabos at the southern tip of Mexicos Baja California Peninsula on Saturday afternoon, then later weakened to a tropical storm over land.

The National Hurricane Center on Sunday morning said mainland Mexico faces threats of flash flooding as Norma continues moving north-northeastward across the Gulf of California.

Hurricane Norma came ashore near the Pacific resort of Los Cabos at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula.

There was a threat of heavy rainfall and flash flooding as Norma moved into mainland Mexico early Sunday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami reported at 3 a.m. ET
