Vic Ladlad s wife to AMLC: Lift ‘immoral, unjust’ freeze order on bank accounts

The wife of detained National Democratic Front consultant Vicente Ladlad has appealed to the Anti-Money Laundering Council (ALMC) to lift what she called the “immoral and reprehensible” freezing of her husband’s bank accounts.
In a May 31 letter to central bank governor Benjamin Diokno, the AMLC chair, Fides Lim lamented the “unjust freezing” of the Land Bank of the Philippines accounts of Ladlad, who was arrested in November 2018 for alleged illegal possession of firearms, the usual charge made against activists.

Exiled Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria Sison said that he and his wife were not bothered by the Anti-Terror Law Council s (ATC) designation of the couple as terrorists.
“My wife Julieta and I are not at all bothered by Resolution Number 17 (2021) which designates the two of us as “terrorists,” Sison said in a statement on Thursday, May 13.
Sison slammed the so-called “inconsistent list” by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr, vice chairperson of the ATC and its de facto head. The chairperson is President Rodrigo Duterte.
