Political action committees (PAC's) have been a standard part of the American and Alabamian legislative process for over a century. While it is standard for PAC's to lobby politicians, these groups sometimes wield enough power to convince legislators to vote a certain way that is in line with organization's goals or beliefs. Most of the time this power comes from monetary donations to the legislators campaign.
Multiple UNA alumni secured their respective parties' nomination and advanced to November's general election in their bids for federal and state offices.
