it s a series that s been getting a lot of buzz and will it live to see another season? earlier, i spoke to casey neistat. take a listen. casey, welcome to you. good to be here. so tell me about the show, how you define it. is it reality tv? is it a documentary style? how do you describe it? we get asked that a lot. that s everyone s first question. the words we use, we kind of invented this, it s first person film making. right. kind of what that means, when you have your reality tv, your have your subject, kardashians and producers looking for the sensational aspects of their lives. that s the story that s being told. in our show, because we are producing and writing and editing it you do everything? yes. we tell the stories in the most honest way we can. to that point, they re the stories of your lives, skiing with your brother, making french toast with your grandmother.
we re back now, talking about the pretty explosive controversy over the forced resignation of an agricultural employee because of reverse racism, another story that puts the issue of race in the spotlight and the story has been changing almost by the minute throughout the day. i want to bring in cnn political analyst, roland martin, tim wiese, an author and expert on racial relations and david gergen to talk about this. roland, i want to start with you. you were among the voices saying sherrod was right to be forced to resign for her comments and comments clearly now seemed to have been taken largely out of context. did you jump the gun here? looking at in terms of the naacp releasing the full video and having access it to, you see the full breath of it. when you look at someone who makes a comment, they say, yeah,
day and take it all way. this is where van and i had. we didn t have money, nothing, we had a camera, computer you can sort of edit video on. you don t need anything more than that to tell a great story. what s next for you and van. are you staying with this? we re staying with this, no question. season one on hbo right now us us figuring this thing out. by the end, we had figured something out and the culmination where we had been heading in the last ten years, figuring out how to make movies. we want to exhaust it and keep going with it and take it as far as we can and we haven t done that yet. it s a different kind of reality tv and certainly worth a look. they should tune in. the neistat brothers are on right now, right? yes. friday nights on hbo. nice to have you here. a pleasure. larry king live up next.
a conservative blogger, andrew breibart posted a link to that video, showing it clearly showed racism and the racism was being tolerated by the naacp. sherrod claimed she was effectively fired yesterday after the usda demanded her resignation. we just learned president obama supported the usda s move. joe johns has been working this story for us. here s the latest from joe. reporter: hey campbell. this is a story about race and politics and america s history in the south, the story of the personal journey of shirley sherrod, a top ranking agriculture official in the state of georgia and of a white farmer who came to her for help decades ago, also sherrod s boss, the agriculture secretary, who asked for her resignation. sherrod s tale is the expert of the tape you saw was taken out of context. she says she s not a racist and
twisted on the internet, as so often happens and an administration and naacp and a lot of other people who jumped the gun in going after her and crusifing her. first, they hung her and now we re going to get around to a trial. what needs to be done is to correct what appears to be a deep injustice to this woman. miss sherrod deserves by all accounts this is not i m with david on this. i don t think there s any question, everybody screwed up and needs to admit they screwed up, end of story. campbell asked a broader question to which tim was speaking to, i was talking to as well, here s the deal, naacp makes their statement. let s say they review the sherrod case. the reality is there s still people in the department of agriculture who discriminate against folks still have jobs. the settlement still hasn t been funded by congress. my point is there is still a broader interest in this country we still have to contend with. there is no question there are broader issues. tonight,
