TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it is possible for schools to safely re-open and limit the spread of COVID 19.
But local school leaders think it may take a little longer before Pima County is ready.
“We were just one of the highest in the world,” said Pima County Superintendent of Schools, Dustin Williams, in regard to case numbers. “That’s a big concern. So when we hear the recommendation of the CDC, we also want to work really, really closely with the Pima County Health Department for their recommendations.”

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Amanda Gorman, the nationâs first youth poet laureate, captivated the world at Joe Bidenâs inauguration on Wednesday.
âIt was exactly what this country needed at this point in time,â said Elaine A. Powers, the president of the Tucson Poetry Society.
Powers is also a poet herself, and said she was amazed by Gormanâs writing.
âI thought the inauguration struck the right tone of coming together as a United States of America and putting aside our differences and welcoming each other,â Powers said.
