The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Kyle Bazant, 34, of Bayfield, Wisconsin died from the incident that occurred in Pine County on Feb. 21.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the man who led a Minnesota State Patrol trooper on a pursuit on Feb. 21 died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Sunday will be sunny with afternoon highs close to 30 degrees. Precipitation chances return late Sunday night.

The South Shore has seen more than a foot of snow in the past 24 hours.

As of noon Thursday, the snowfall for the 2022-23 winter is 2 inches more than the average season total as recorded at the National Weather Service in Duluth.

Another round of winter weather is set to cause some major problems around the upper Midwest. This includes nearly all of Minnesota, Wisconsin and U.P. of Michigan. Beginning this evening a quick round snow will get under way from the Twin Ports to Minneapolis.

Officials are investigating 2 "use-of-force" incidents in Pine County, both involving the Pine Co. Sheriff's Office. One of the incidents also involved state patrol.

Pine County deputies shot and injured a suspect during an attempted arrest Tuesday afternoon in Pine City, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

The Minnesota BCA says it is investigating two use-of-force incidents in northern Minnesota on Tuesday.
