Wildlife officials in Colorado say an elk that had a tire around its neck for two years near Pine Junction, southwest of Denver, has finally been freed.

Colorado wildlife officials made a local elk's life a little easier when they successfully removed a tire that had been stuck around a bull elk's neck for two years.

U.S. 285 was closed between Pine Junction and Conifer due to a deadly, head-on crash.

Colorado State Patrol said it was a head-on crash involving two vehicles Thursday.
