Opinion: Renewable energy the only direction

Ships moored off Hay Point waiting to be loaded with coal. Opinion Contributed Premium Content High-Rise on Airlie Foreshore – No Way The Whitsunday Regional Council is considering an application for a foreshore high-rise development at the Port of Airlie, as high as 12 stories or more. Our community has seen high-rise development proposals before and we have stood up and loudly shouted down these proposals. So why does the council continue to entertain high-rise applications? Why is the council not backing the community and its own town plan? High-rise developments in the Whitsundays are shouted down for many good reasons. OPINION: Give more than love this Mother s Day

Hosting a pink fundraiser supports cancer fight I am writing to encourage the community to help make a difference in the lives of mums impacted by cancer this Mother’s Day. One in six Queensland women will be diagnosed with a breast or gynaecological cancer in their lifetime - these women are our mothers, sisters, daughters and friends. Supporting is easy - you could turn Mother’s Day breakfast into a pink fundraiser or buy mum some pink ribbon accessories to don on the day, to help raise funds and awareness for women’s cancers. Every year, 4200 Queensland women are diagnosed with a breast or gynaecological cancer.
