Ben Scott has been playing the strings on his cello since he was in Year 3 at Andergrove State School.
“I remember my mum asking me what I was thinking, because it was so big and fragile,” Ben said.
“But I fell in love with the cello and my love has not faltered.”
Mr Scott is now all grown up with plans to study a Bachelor of Music at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music this year.
To help him on his way, he was presented with the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre’s $1000 Jack Sturgeon Bursary on Wednesday.
