âThe Linden City Council didnât make any motions on a potential mobile food vehicle vending ordinance on Monday, May 10, but the council made suggestions and changes. Theyâre expected to discuss it more and vote on it at a later date.
âOn Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, the council enacted a moratorium on food trucks in the city. This lasted until April 29, and on Monday, April 26, the council extended the moratorium another 30 days
to give them time to consider and adopt an ordinance. See the entire suggested ordinance online at lindenmi.us under the meeting packet for the Monday, May 10 meeting.
âThe ordinance would not apply to âmobile food vehicle vendors operating at community events approved by the City Council.â The council discussed making it clear in the language that property owners would be able to apply for a permit to allow food trucks downtown.
âThe Linden City Council is considering language for a mobile food truck ordinance.
âOn Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, the council enacted a moratorium on food trucks in the city. This lasted until April 29. However, during the Monday, April 26 meeting, the council extended the moratorium another 30 days to give them time to consider and adopt an ordinance.
âCity Planner Adam Young said they borrowed language from other municipalities on mobile food trucks.
âSuggested language includes requiring a permit to operate a mobile food vehicle. The city would create permits and vendors would have to apply, pay a fee, and show proof of insurance. These permits would be non-transferable.
