The Islanders looked like they were going to frustrate the Devils into a bad loss, but the Devils overcame.

The Captain is back, and this team sure looked different.

The New Jersey Devils got a great game from the returning Jack Hughes, two terrible goals allowed by Igor Shesterkin, and even led 3-2 in the third period. They lost 3-5. Which means the Devils blew it. This is an unhappy recap of the loss.

Despicable ending to what could have been a good game.

It took the New Jersey Devils over 47 minutes to score a goal against Charlie Lindgren and the Washington Capitals tonight. They turned a 0-3 game into a 2-3 game shortly thereafter, but it was too little, too late. This recap goes over a thoroughly poor performance by the Devils.

After a rough loss on Wednesday and a check to Captain Nico Hischier’s head, the Devils easily could have lost focus tonight. After Nico returned to the ice, and then had to leave the game again, the Devils only grew more and more relentless.

The Devils played down to the competition tonight, and did not look like the same team from last night.

Better effort, better result.

The Devils came out flat, but they recovered and put themselves on the right path to begin the season.
