The PowerPuff flag football game on the Hunnewell track and field was not the traditional pre-Thanksgiving clash between Needham and Wellesley senior women. The pandemic ended, but on June 7, the Wellesley High School players took to the field on their own Needham couldn t field a team and played a not-to-be-forgotten game.
There was only one problem: the Wellesley Natural Resources Commission, which oversees the field, has a no-amplified-music policy and there was music playing. Joe Roberts, director of the nonprofit youth sports group Community Investors, applied in May to the NRC board on the part of the organization to have a sound system for the game, but the request was denied.
