Russias anti-satellite was deliberately smashed into Cosmos 1408 on November 15, EU Space Surveillance and Tracking confirmed from its Darmstadt, Germany HQ.

Russia recently test-fired its latest anti-satellite missile on the Kosmos 1408, a soviet satellite that has been in orbit for the last 4 decades.

This week should be interesting for space launches as SpaceX gets NASA's DART probe off the ground. Next year, DART will impact an asteroid satellite known as Dimorphos in an Earth defence test.

Thus, Russia’s state space corporation Roscosmos carried out 17 space launches from four spaceports

A fireball brightened the Midwest skies in the early morning hours of October 20. This made people begin to speculate about what the mystery light may have been almost immediately. Perhaps it was a meteor or a stray from the Orionid shower this month? Maybe it was a Russian spy satellite that had failed to stay in orbit and was now falling back into the earth or perhaps aliens.

The fireball in the night sky was actually a new reconnaissance spacecraft Cosmos-2551 of the Russian Ministry of Defense

At just 500 kilograms (1,102 pounds) – about the same as a dromedary camel, or a grand piano – KOSMOS-2551 almost certainly burned up in the atmosphere.

The fiery trail astonished viewers in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, but a Russian military spacecraft was the probable source.
