Jeff Fanged said the arrest of the wanted persons was the result of the implementation of some 489 warrants of arrest by the different police stations all over the province. "The province of Pangasinan has been relieved of wanted persons who remained a threat to the public," he said. PNA file photo MALASIQUI, Pangasinan - The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has recorded 1,822 dengue cases from January 1 to August 29 this year, 53 percent lower than the 3,919 recorded in the same period last year. Based on the data provided to the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday, the highest number of cases this year was recorded in July with 690. The usual age group affected by the virus is between 10 to 14 years old. Three deaths have been recorded due to dengue this year. The latest casualty was a 41-year-old male from San Quintin town. PHO chief Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman, in a phone interview, attributed the decrease to the improved awareness of the danger and prevention of dengue conducted by the PHO. PNA file photo MALASIQUI, Pangasinan - The provincial government of Pangasinan is implementing a temporary ban on the entry of live swine and pork from the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, and Tarlac from August 18 to September 17 amid the threat of the African swine fever (ASF) virus. In Executive Order (EO) 0125 posted on Friday, Governor Ramon Guico III said the Department of Agriculture's (DA) updated zoning map and zoning status listed the three provinces as having active cases and under the red zone, or areas infected with ASF. "The DA Ilocos regional office recommended the crafting of executive orders and ordinances to regulate the movement of swine in the provinces," he said. In an interview on Wednesday, DepEd 1 (Ilocos) Public Affairs Unit head Cesar Bucsit said of the total, 55,736 were enrolled in kindergarten, 405,515 in elementary, 314,139 in junior high, and 161,016 in senior high school. The figure is expected to increase as enrollment is ongoing, he said. Bucsit said the projected enrollees for School Year 2022-2023 in the region are at 1.3 million. Based on the data obtained by the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday, there were 34,904 individuals added to the number of residents inoculated with booster shots from July 31 to August 6 following the launch of the DOH "PinasLakas" booster vaccination campaign.
