STROUDSBURG, Pa. It s a lot like paradise inside this new bear cub enclosure. The addition at the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center near Stroudsburg has been a long time coming for director Kathy Uhler and her husband Eric. This was designed by Eric and me together with an architecture firm, and it was just completed. It can hopefully house eight to ten bear cubs if necessary since we are the bear cub center in Pennsylvania, said Kathy Uhler.
Sticky bands wrapped around trees to kill spotted lanternfly also catch and kill birds, small animals and native insects. Experts want people to use a different kind of trap instead.

Short-eared owl released in the Poconos
STROUDSBURG, Pennsylvania (WNEP) A short-eared owl now has a new home in the Poconos at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge near Stroudsburg.
“These birds don’t live in the forest like other owls. They live in fields. This is a recovering golf course and a perfect habitat for this bird to spend the rest of its winter. It’s probably not a Pennsylvania bird; it’s probably from up north,” said Kathy Uhler, Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center.
The owl was brought to Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center near Stroudsburg late last month after being found in Susquehanna County.
