A former bookkeeper at R.H. LeChard Marine Contractors in Point Pleasant Borough is being charged with theft and forgery after she allegedly stole nearly $260,000 from the company, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Point Pleasant Borough Police Chief Robert Lokerson announced on Friday.
Jessica Duffy, 37, of Brick Township, was arrested Thursday and charged following an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crime Unit and Point Pleasant Borough Police Department who looked into claims she misappropriated money from the company during her employment there.
The investigation led authorities to learn that Duffy was not authorized to sign checks on the company account but wrote numerous unauthorized checks to herself anyway, forging the signature of the company manager on each check.
