The arrested cultists, who were nabbed during a series of intelligence-led manhunt, have been detained on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye.

The explosion occurred along Eleme section of the East-West Road in the state at about 7:30 p.m.

Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, who visited the accident scene, described it as tragic and sad.He urged motorists to always exercise caution while on the road.

The Anambra State Police Command has said that its operatives have arrested no fewer than 16 notorious cultists involved in a series of killings and cult-related crimes in the state, while 21 others have been declared wanted.

According to the command, this follows a series of reports indicating that the officers attached to the anti-corruption commission have been highhanded.
