LAKELAND Leaders of the Polk County Republican Party are still promoting unproven claims of election fraud and fuming over the freezing of President Donald Trump’s social media accounts while saying less about last week’s attack at the U.S. Capitol.
Their statements make it clear they still consider Trump the party’s leader and are seeking a purge of those seen as disloyal to the man who will leave office next week, if he is not removed before then.
Following last week’s meeting of Congress, in which some Republicans failed in their bid to stop certification of the results, J.C. Martin, chairman of the Polk County Republican Executive Committee, repeated the groundless assertion that fraud cost Trump the 2020 election.
