UD doctoral student puts power of data to work

Alexandra âLexieâ Tabachnick wasnât looking for a path to research when she was scouting around for a doctoral program in psychology. She wanted to be a clinician doing practical, hands-on stuff. The University of Delaware School of Nursing made changes to in-person learning to ensure students continued to get the critical exposure to hands-on practice needed for success in their career. In-person simulations were expanded from one hour to four hours and observers were added to help third-year nursing students learn from different perspectives. Heiddy DiGregorio, director of simulation for SON, said many of the changes have resulted in greater independence among students and a better understanding of their role in the continuum of patient care.
