Fire of unknown origin gutted a section of the Port Royal Basic School on Thursday. It's reported that about 9 p.m., fire was observed coming from a section of the board and concrete structure. A unit from the nearby Port Royal Fire Station.
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Two classrooms and other sections of the Port Royal Basic School were significantly damaged in a fire on Thursday. It is understood that sometime after 9 pm, an eyewitness reported seeing smoke rising from the building. An alert was made and the fire was extinguished. It’s still unclear what started the blaze, which also destroyed electronics, furniture and a refrigerator.
