The United Way of Logan County is presenting another Poverty Simulation on Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hilliker YMCA in Bellefontai

AUBURN — While the poverty was simulated, the peoples reactions to the difficulties they faced were real.

The tony suburb of Highland Park, Ill., decided that it was time for the towns well-heeled residents to learn a little bit about how impoverished people live.

The City of Highland Park, Illinois partnered with The Alliance for Human Services to host a poverty simulation. The event was cancelled after social media users cried out against the location.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank will hold special volunteer shifts in Geneva, Joliet, Rockford and Lake Forest for National Day of Service on Sept. 11.

This September, Northern Illinois Food Bank, the leading hunger relief organization serving 13 counties in rural and suburban Northern Illinois and member of the Feeding America Network, will recognize Hunger Action Month with several initiatives to educate the public about the issue of hunger and ways to get involved.
