Fodder scam: RJD chief Lalu Yadav has been granted bail in Doranda treasury case

Yadav’s counsel informed that a bail plea was submitted to the Jharkhand HC pleading that Yadav has already served more than half of his sentence and deserved to be released.

The High Court of Jharkhand has granted RJD chief Lalu Prasad bail in the Doranda Treasury case.

73-year-old Prasad is in custody following his conviction and sentencing by a CBI court in February in a fodder scam case involving embezzlement of over Rs 139 crore from Doranda treasury.

The Jharkhand High Court on Friday granted bail to Rashtriya Janta Dal(RJD) chief Lalu Prasad in connection with a fodder scam case relating to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 139.5 crore from the Doranda treasury in undivided Bihar.

The veteran leader had earlier been sentenced to 14 years in jail in four other fodder scam cases

The Jharkhand HC order is expected to be communicated to the lower court by Tuesday, next week, paving the way for the RJD supremo's release.
