In 2020, three pumpkin growers joined forces to try and break the 2,000-pound mark at the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest. Chris Lyons along with Phil and Jane Hunt broke the Port Elgin site record with their 1,939.5-pound pumpkin but failed to tip the scales with a pumpkin weighing over a ton.
