AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief over the demise of former DGP of United Andhra Pradesh) Dr B. Prasada Rao (65) and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members. The retired IPS officer was hospitalized with chest pain and breathed his last on Sunday night in the United States. He is survived by his wife Sowmini, son Vikas, daughter-in-law Soumya and a grandson.
B. Prasada Rao, a 1979 batch IPS officer who was the last DGP of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh was a distinguished police officer and was popular as police Commissioner of Hyderabad. He has been SP of Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Nalgonda districts and served as SP Vigilance cell, SP Intelligence and commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force at Visakhapatnam and Bhopal.

HYDERABAD: Dr B Prasada Rao, former DGP of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh breathed his last in the USA in the early hours of Monday.
“He complained of chest pain and wanted to be taken to hospital. But by the time the ambulance reached the hospital, he was no more. We are deeply saddened and shocked with his untimely demise. May his soul rest in peace,” a source close to the family said.

Hyderabad, May 10 : Former police chief of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Dr B. Prasada Rao passed away in the US on Monday, his family sources said.
Rao complained of chest pain and wanted to be taken to hospital but by the time the ambulance reached, he breathed his last.
He was 66 and survived by wife Sowmini and son Vikas.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao condoled the death of Prasada Rao.

According to his family members, Prasada Rao complained of chest pain and was about to be taken to the hospital. He breathed his last at around 1 am (Indian Standard Time) by the time the ambulance arrived at his residence.

Many IPS officers who have served as Police Commissioners in the city stand out in their own right, but Bayyarapu Prasada Rao was different from the rest.
Born on September 11, 1955, in Vijayawada, B. Prasada Rao reportedly died of a cardiac arrest on Monday morning in the U.S.A., where he had been living with his son.
Bayyarapu Prasada Rao had served as Commissioner of Police of Visakhapatnam and held many high-ranking positions that culminated in the post of Director General of Police (DGP) of united Andhra Pradesh in 2013-2014.
