Modification of coronavirus treatment protocol: Delhi HC rejects PIL

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to the Central India, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and NITI Aayog regarding reconsideration of the prevalent treatment protocol for a mild case of COVID-19 and modify the treatment protocol in COVID-19. The Bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh dismissed the petition and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the petitioner. The court showed displeasure with the petition and said the respondents have enough experts to take a decision regarding protocols. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Chetan Sharma, appearing for the Central government, also opposed the petition and said various petitions are coming to the respondents and giving suggestions.

Delhi HC asks Centre, Delhi govt to file status report on seized medicine, equipment May 10, 2021 × Issues notices to the Centre and Delhi government, asks for status report on seizure of hoarded material The Delhi High Court Monday asked the Centre and Delhi government to prevent black marketing and hoarding of medicines and medical equipment, including oxygen concentrators. It also directed the Delhi government to file a status report on seizure of hoarded equipment and medicines and orders passed by the SDMs for release of the same. A bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli was hearing a PIL seeking directions to declare medicines and medical equipment meant for Covid treatment as essential commodities under the Essential Commodities Act. It said if something has to be done, “do it without waiting for orders from the court”.

The counsel said the issue has been raised and it was under active consideration (File) New Delhi: The Centre informed the Delhi High Court on Friday that relaxation in cap of Rs 2 lakh cash transactions for COVID-19 treatment in hospitals is under active consideration . A bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli asked the Finance Ministry counsel to apprise it of the development on Monday. The counsel said the issue has been raised and it was under active consideration and some orders are likely to be passed in this regard during the day. The high court was hearing a plea seeking suspension of Section 269ST of the Income Tax Act which puts a bar on a person from receiving an amount of Rs 2 lakh or more, other than bank cheque, draft or electronic clearing system.
