An outstanding smile. Filled with positive energy. An integral part of the community.
Sunny. Bright. And, again, selfless.
Selfless. That’s the word used repeatedly to describe Valerie Baker, 70, the special education teacher at the Middle School of the Kennebunks who passed away unexpectedly last Friday. In phone interviews, her son, Ryan, used the word, and so too did Baker’s colleagues, MSK Principal Marty Bouchard and RSU 21 Special Education Director Susan Martin.
“Every one of her students mattered to her,” Martin said. “She took care of her school kids just like she took care of her own family. There was never a child she could not reach. She loved them all.”
